Russia bans Finnish poultry on Newcastle disease outbreak
Russia has temporarily banned poultry imports from a number of Finnish provinces due to an outbreak of Newcastle disease, according to Russian veterinary agency Rosselkhoznadzor spokesperson Alexei Alekseyenko on Friday (July 4, 2008).
On the ban list are live birds, hatching eggs, poultry meat, poultry products without heat treatment, poultry feed and also equipment that had been in contact with fowls.
In addition, Alekseyenko said the agency lifted on Monday (July 7, 2008) its temporary ban on meat imports from three Danish firms.
