Ukraine sees higher share of feed grain harvest for 2011

The proportion of feed grain in this year's Ukraine harvest is likely to increase to 60% from the normal 55% because of the recent rains, the agriculture ministry said on Wednesday (Jul 6).

The ministry said the decreased amount of milling grain was not critical, especially as there was 1.46 million tonnes of milling grain in the state grain reserve, and it was being continuously increased.

The ministry also said it still expected this year's harvest at 45 million tonnes, including 19.1 million tonnes of wheat, 7.9 million tonnes of barley, and 15.5 million tonnes of corn.

Ukraine's grain harvest in 2010 fell by 14.8% on the year to 39.23 million tonnes in clean weight because of drought.
