Rose Poultry to build large meat processing plant in UAE

Danish poultry producer Rose Poultry is in a joint venture with retailer Emke Group to set up one of the largest meat and seafood processing plants in the Middle East with an investment of DH 300 million (US$81.7 million).


The plant will be located at Al Ain, Abu Dhabi. At completion, the plant will have an initial production capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year with further expansion in the second phase.


The plant will have two production lines for chicken and frozen convenience meat products and a separate line for seafood processing.


Commercial production will begin in 18 months' time.


The plant, which will manufacture Halal meat, will operate as per the certification standards of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) in the production of value-added meat products from chicken, beef, lamb and seafood.
