Ukraine's Ministry opposing export duties on grains and oilseeds
The Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food opposes the introduction of export duties on grains and oilseeds, Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies Minister, Mykola Prysiazhniuk, said.
"The position of the ministry on all duties, of course, is negative," he said. The minister noted that the imposition of duties on exports adversely affects the prospects for crop production.
As for the question of whether the Ministry has agreed the draft law on the introduction of export duties on oilseeds, the minister replied in the negative.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on June 10, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food Supplies advocated the lowering of export duties on grain.
On May 19, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law introducing export duties on grain, on June 10, President Viktor Yanukovych signed it into law.
