Viterra assumes full operation of Montreal Port Authority's grain terminal

Press Release

Viterra Inc. has begun operation of the grain terminal previously managed by the Montreal Port Authority (MPA), following the April 21 announcement by Viterra and the MPA of a definitive lease agreement.

The agreement was signed following a selection process led by the MPA, and successful due diligence conducted by Viterra.

The grain terminal is licensed as a transfer elevator by the Canadian Grain Commission, and has a storage capacity of 262,000 tonnes.

Serviced by a port railway, the terminal has direct access to both the Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) rail networks, and provides direct shipping routes to various destinations in Canada, the US, and Europe.

The terminal's location, in the deepest inland seaport in North America, enables it to operate year round.

On May 2, 2011, Viterra opened a new merchandising office in Montreal that will source and market food ingredients to markets in Canada, the US, and Europe, while complementing terminal operations by facilitating the efficient movement of grains and oilseeds through its pipeline.
