Higher import costs push up China methionine prices

Prices of methionine increased marginally during the week ending July 4.

Demand for methionine remained soft while feed millers stayed cautious. However, as the costs of methionine imports rose substantially due to the depreciation of renminbi after Brexit, distributors and traders lifted price quotes to sustain profits.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine were higher in the range of RMB28.80-29.50/kg.

Prices of methionine are seen stable to higher.

RMB1=US$0.1506 (Jul 4)
