Phileo launches project to develop feed solutions

In its ongoing commitment to anticipate the needs of future generations, Phileo Lesaffre Animal Care has launched The Farm, a project with the mission to develop solutions to meet the ethical, health and performance challenges facing the farming world of the future.

The Phileo Farm aims to promote innovation, knowledge sharing and customer proximity in the field of nutrition and animal health.

"The Farm is equipped with the latest-generation tools enabling us to gather together in a single location both the animals and the analytical and laboratory equipment needed in order to develop new solutions," says Jean-Philippe Marden, a doctorate of animal nutrition and director of The Phileo Farm.

The research will focus on the study of intestinal flora, detection of various mycotoxins, the assessment of the impact of animal feeding methods on the environment, and improvement in animal welfare.

"The solutions we are developing aim to provide better welfare for animals," says Dr. Marden. "In the context of sustainable farming systems, we are targeting greater efficiency at the animal's scale, while respecting its environment and protecting its welfare. In the end, this approach has the benefit of promoting farmers' economic success. In short, a virtuous circle," he concludes.

The Farm also reflects a clear commitment from Phileo: to communicate more in order to act more effectively. The platform promotes "academic research in partnership with internationally renowned scientists in Europe and the United States, as well as in countries where animal science is gaining momentum, such as Brazil, India and China," explains Dr. Marden.

In addition, The Farm supports Phileo's customers and trains them in the company's tried-and-tested techniques by offering seminars. In this regard, Phileo has partnered with PURPAN Engineering School, the National Veterinary School of Toulouse, the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and the China Agricultural University in Beijing.
