Thailand's agriculture ministry aims to export poultry and pork to China
Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives said it will export poultry and pork meat to China to help domestic farmers affected by COVID-19, The Star Malaysia reported.
The ministry said it will introduce a programme to assist farmers to sell meat through e-commerce platforms.
Chalermchai Sri-on, the Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister said 15 poultry processing plants in Thailand have been approved for export to China.
He said Thailand aims to export THB 12 billion (~US$388.47 million; THB 1 = US$0.032) in 2020 worth of poultry meat.
He added that China and Vietnam are also interested in importing Thailand pork, especially as Thailand was able to control African swine fever from spreading in the country.
