Hungarian poultry industry's revenue to increase this year

Earnings generated by the Hungarian poultry sector could rise 6-7% to HUF270 billion (US$1.47 billion) this year, Laszlo Barany, who heads the Poultry Products Council said on Thursday (Jun 30).

Poultry farmers expect about HUF5 billion (US$27.2 million) in subsidies from the government this year for technical developments, Barany said.

However, he added that probably 10-15% of farmers will give up raising poultry because they will not be able to conform to new industry requirements set by the EU.
