China finishes 68% of crop planting

China has finished crop sowing of 360 million mu (1 mu approximates to 666.7 square metres) as of June 27, a figure accounting for 68.4% of the planned figure.

The speed is 1.8 percentage points higher on-year. The sowed grain has covered 324 million mu, accounting for 70.5% of the planned figure. The speed is 2.4 percentage points higher on-year, source from the Ministry of Agriculture indicated.

Large precipitation in most regions of China in the end of June has relieved the earlier drought condition, which is very beneficial for the crops sowed in summer to sprout.

After the precipitation, soil moisture content is relieved in Henan province and Shandong Peninsula, appropriate in most of Hebei province and the west of Shandong province, and preferable in Jiangsu and Anhui province.

The proportion of soil moisture shortage in Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong and Henan province is 23%, 12%, 3%, 17% and 30%, respectively, down 8%, 13%, 12%, 13% and 7% separately in comparison to the middle of June.
