Perak's unlicensed poultry farms to apply for licenses

All unlicensed poultry farm operators in Perak were warned by the government yesterday (Jun 29) to apply for licenses immediately to prevent action being taken against them.
State Health, Local Government and Consumer Affairs chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said the unlicensed poultry farmers had until August 30 to get their licenses.
"We are extending the period for application because we are not satisfied with the number of farmers applying for licenses from the Veterinary Service Department (JPV). Only 503 out of 844 unlicensed farm operators have applied. After August 1, we will be coming after them," he said on Wednesday.

He said following the deadline, enforcement officers could seize all birds, carcasses and supplementary products, and demolish all or parts of illegal farm buildings.
