Vietnam's seafood exports likely up 28% in early 2011

 

 

Vietnam is estimated to have earned US$2.589 billion from exporting seafood in the first half of this year, representing an on-year rise of 28%.

 

In June, the country's seafood exports are expected at US$500 million, compared to US$488 million in May, according to the government's General Statistics Office (GSO).

 

Between January to June, the Southeast Asian country has spent US$206 million on imports of aquatic materials, including US$30 million in May.

 

Seafood exports brought about US$5 billion to Vietnam last year. The country expects the exports to rise to US$5.5 billion this year.
