Methionine prices slide as supply exceeds demand in China

Prices of methionine fell significantly during the week ending June 28.

Supplies were in excess as domestic production of methionine remained stable while imports were abundant. This, together with soft poultry feed demand, dragged down prices of methionine over the week.

Liquid methionine price quotes were unchanged in the range of RM24.50-26/kg.

During May, China's methionine imports increased 12% on-month to 13,965 tonnes, whereas exports plunged 38% to slight over 1,000 tonnes.
