Thailand's poultry exports considered safe for Japan

The Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations of Thailand has disclosed that Thai processed poultry exports to Japan are unaffected by the Nakhon Ratchasima scandal.

Nantawan Sakuntanak said the International Trade Promotion Office in Japan reported being confident with the quality of the poultry exports, meeting inspection standards on food safety.

In addition, the Japan Poultry Imports Association trusted the quality and safety standards of processed poultry in Thailand, as the production process in Thailand is in line with its food safety policy.

Thai authorities raided on illegal poultry slaughterhouses in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima on June 12, discovering several tonnes of decomposed chicken carcasses intended for resale.
