Lithuanian farm produce prices rise 26.8% in May
The price of agricultural produce in Lithuania rose by 26.8% in May, as compared to the same period last year.
Plant product prices soared by 44.7% on year as animal product prices increased by 17.4%.
For plant products, the on year increase in purchase prices was the largest for oats (2.8 times), rye (2.1 times), wheat (99%), triticale (97.5%), cereal mixtures (87.2%), fruit (83.7%), barley (60.5%), potatoes (59%), rapeseeds (43.2%). The price of vegetables declined by 4.6%.
For livestock and animal products, the purchase price of poultry rose 28.9%, natural milk 23.8%, sheep and goats 18.8%, livestock 17.6%, and pigs 14.7%. The price of eggs shrank by 20.7%.
Compared to April, agricultural product purchase prices in May declined by 4.6%, with plant product prices down 8.6% and animal product prices down 1.9%.
