Peru's livestock and agricultural industry to grow in May
Peru's livestock and agricultural sector is forecast to develop by 3.7% in May in contrast to the same period last year, according to the Production Minister Jorge Villasante on Thursday (Jun 23).
Until April, this activity expanded 2.63%, boosted by agricultural and livestock sub-sectors at 2.04% and 3.96%, respectively.
Such results in May would be driven by strong poultry activity, which is included in the livestock sub-sector and that accounts for 22.2% of the livestock and agricultural sector.
"The agro-export sector has also shown dynamism, as well as the production of tubers," he pointed out.
Villasante added that by the end of this year, the sector could have an expansion of approximately 7%, which represents a sustainable growth over the last ten years.
