Ukrainian cattle population rises in May

 

 

In May, Ukrainian cattle population increased by 1.2% or 64,500 head, in contrast to April, to 5,243,700 head as of June 1, 2011, according to the State Statistics Service.

 

Cattle population rose by 1.9% or 69,200 head at private farms, and fell by 0.3% or 4,700 head at specialised farms.

 

In May, cow population went up by 0.1% or 1,600 head, and as of June 1, 2011, made up 2,661,200 heads.

 

The cattle population decreased 5% or 274,600 head, compared to June 1, 2010.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in April, cattle population rose by 2.8% or 142,800 head, compared to March, to 5,179,200 head as of May 1, 2011.

 

In March, cow population increased by 0.3% or 7,300 head, and as of April 1, 2011, made up 2,650,100 head.
