In Europe, whey prices increased to the range of USD570-580/tonne.
 
 
Market analysis
 
Demand for whey continued to stay firm with sales of quality piglet feed remaining strong. Traders lifted prices further as availability was tight due to limited imports.
 
Between January and April, China’s whey imports from the US fell sharply by 39% compared with the same period in 2015.
 
 
Market forecast
 
Whey market is poised to remain strong in China due to tight availability. Additionally, traders will be more reluctant to negotiate prices while the costs of whey from Europe and the US are on the rise.
