Estonia 2010 egg production increases 5%

 

 

The egg production of Estonia in the previous year rose 5% over 2009 to 181.9 million eggs, whereas the output of meat decreased from 76,000 tonnes to 75,400 tonnes, according to the Statistics Estonia.

 

The meat output included 45,800 tonnes of pork, 16,000 tonnes of poultry meat, 12,900 tonnes of beef, and 700 tonnes of mutton and goat meat.

 

The total milk output last year was 676,000 tonnes, up from 671,000 tonnes in 2009.

 

Output of meat per inhabitant was 56 kilogrammes, output of milk per inhabitant was 504 kilogrammes and output of eggs 136 eggs. The corresponding figures for 2009 were 57 kilogrammes, 501 kilogrammes and 129 eggs.

 

Average yield of milk per cow was 7,021 kilogrammes in 2010 and 6,838 kilogrammes in 2009. Average egg production per hen was 283 eggs, compared with 1.7 kilogrammes and 281 eggs in 2009.

 

As of December 31, 2010, there were 2.05 million heads of poultry, 371,700 pigs, 236,300 heads of cattle, 96,500 milking cows, 82,700 sheep and goats, 28,300 beehives and 6,800 horses in Estonia.
