China and Norway say Norwegian salmon not the cause of Beijing market COVID-19 outbreak
Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen, Norwegian fisheries and seafood minister said authorities from China and Norway have jointly agreed that Norwegian salmon is not the cause of the COVID-19 outbreak at a Beijing food market, Reuters reported.
Both parties held a discussion on June 16 regarding the matter and concluded that the COVID-19 outbreak at Beijing's Xinfadi wholesale market did not come from salmon from Norway.
The minister told journalists that the investigation clears away ambiguity and should resume salmon exports to China.
The discovery of COVID-19 in Beijing has raised concerns of another lockdown as more new infections are detected.
