Afghan women provided laying hen facilities to improve living conditions
Afghan women living in poverty have been provided with small-scale laying hen facilities in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province, the country's Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said in a statement on June 13.
The move is aimed to improve their living conditions.
Laying hen facilities have been distributed to 344 widows through the Community Livestock and Agriculture Project (CLAP) within the ministry to help poor families to raise egg production to secure their livelihood, a statement by the ministry added.
Each poultry farm includes 60 egg-laying hens, 566kg of chicken feeds, vaccines and other necessities that have been distributed among the recipients in Baghlan-e-Markazi, Doshi, Banu and Deh Salah districts of the province.
