Cautious mood, sufficient supply hold down China methionine prices

Prices of methionine were stable to lower during the week ending June 7.

Although there was news that imports of methionine might shrink in the coming period, Chinese feed millers were reluctant to stock excess inventories in anticipation of slow poultry and piglet feed demand. Even as broiler prices have shown signs of recovering of late, feed millers continued to limit output prudently.

Price quotes of imported dl-methionine slid to the range of RMB30-31/kg, falling by RMB0-0.50/kg.

RMB1=US$0.1524 (Jun 9)
