Vietnam's tuna exports to Japan hit US$3 million
Vietnam's tuna exports to Japan strongly surged, especially after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, according to the Vietnam Seafood Producers and Exporters (VASEP).
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam's tuna exports reached more than 434 tonnes, worth over US$3 million, up 264.5% on-year.
Average tuna prices increased to US$6.98/kg, up 32% compared with US$5.29/kg in the same period last year. Among tuna exports to Japan, unprocessed tuna accounted for 89.5%.
