Tulip to open abattoir

A mothballed abattoir in Angus which is to be reopened by Tulip will generate 30 jobs and enhance Scottish pork production.

Pork and bacon processor Tulip is to start contract killing pigs at the Brechin slaughterhouse which meat firm A. P. Jess closed last year.

Tulip, a subsidiary of farmers' co-operative Danish Crown, is among the biggest suppliers of pig meat to Tesco.
