Awareness of mycotoxins is rising among Dutch vets, Nutriad says

The awareness of the impact of mycotoxins on animal performance and health is increasing among Dutch veterinarians, a trend which Nutriad notes.

Within the larger vet practices, mostly poultry practices, post-mortem examinations are conducted on a daily basis. Analysts emphasise that they are noticing more and more symptoms and disorders that cannot be explained easily. Therefore one of the leading poultry vet practices of the Netherlands, covering about 40% of the poultry business, invited Nutriad to share knowledge regarding the impact mycotoxins can have on poultry farming.

Business development manager Olga Averkieva, PhD presented Nutriad's latest insights in the field of mycotoxin management and chaired a two-and-a-half hour interactive discussion with the poultry veterinarians and analysts. The poultry professionals indicated to have encountered declining growth and performance, palate necrosis, and vaccine and medication failure in their operations.

Many of Nutriad's customers use their own wheat and corn to blend in with their feed. If these raw materials are not tested, they pose a high risk on animal health.

According to the Nutriad survey of mycotoxin levels in the harvest of 2014, all European corn is highly contaminated by DON and ZEA.

Nutriad supports the vet practice with a quick test machine which can monitor the quality of feed components more easily, enabling timely intervention.

Olga Averkieva says, "Nutriad works with veterinarians and nutritionists all over the world. Together with our customers we develop solutions for today's and tomorrow's challenges."
