Ukraine bans all pork imports from Lithuania
The State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine has banned the import of pigs and other pork products and raw materials from Lithuania.
This decision was made on June 1, after reports of classical swine fever in Lithuania.
Classical swine fever (CSF) or hog cholera, is a highly contagious disease found in pigs and wild boar. It can cause fever, skin lesions, convulsions and usually death, particularly in young animals, within 15 days (80-100%).
The import of other commodities is subject to Ukraine's State Veterinary control, provided it adheres to existing veterinary requirements.
