MMC First Process and Apria Systems collaborate to enhance water quality in aquaculture systems
MMC First Process and Apria Systems have joined forces in a strategic partnership with the aim of improving water quality in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), The Fish Site reported.
This collaboration combines the expertise of MMC First Process in fish handling solutions with Apria Systems' state-of-the-art water treatment solution, Eloxiras.
Eloxiras, based on electrochemical oxidation, offers a ground-breaking approach to water treatment. The process effectively eliminates nitrogen compounds, including ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates, as well as organic matter.
It also provides in-situ disinfection, ensuring predictable and stable water quality in a single stage, Pedro Gomez, CEO of Apria Systems said.
Recognised as a potential game-changer in the aquaculture industry, Eloxiras has garnered praise from Eivind Vinje, VP R&D at MMC First Process. Vinje expressed admiration for Apria Systems' extensive research and development, testing, and verification of Eloxiras.
The versatile solution is applicable to various RAS systems, ranging from closed-circuit live fish carriers over long distances to land-based post-smolt facilities and holding tanks.
Gomez said that Eloxiras can ensure water quality regardless of temperature fluctuations, changes in biomass densities, short operational periods, or limitations on water exchange.
The strategic partnership between MMC First Process and Apria Systems is expected to create new business opportunities in the wellboat and land-based aquaculture markets. By combining their knowledge, technical capabilities, sales force, and pre- and post-sales services, they aim to provide customers with a reliable and integrated solution based on cutting-edge technologies.
Petter Leon Fauske, CEO of MMC First Process, expressed enthusiasm for including Apria Systems' product range in their portfolio and anticipated bringing this innovative solution to the market.
