Jobs lost as Finesse Foods shuts down
When Western Australian poultry processor, Finesse Foods, ceases operation, a loss of about 130 jobs will take place.
The business was placed into administration in November last year, and an extensive national and international search was unable to produce any prospective buyers.
"Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to negotiate a successful sale of the business with a prospective buyer, and given the ongoing financial losses incurred, there is no alternative but to immediately scale back operations before closing the business," said McVeigh from Deloitte, the receivers of the business.
Finesse Foods, owns a chicken processing facility in Bunbury which will be scaled down before full closure in approximately two weeks time and an abattoir in Dardanup, which is due to close in six to 10 weeks.
The chicken processing facility has been operating in Bunbury since 1988, producing raw and value-added chicken products for the domestic and Asian markets, with a workforce of approximately 128.
