Turkey's Konya Seker begins world's largest meat-milk integrated complex
Founded by 17 agriculture cooperatives and 60,000 farmers, Konya Åžeker, a sugar producer in Central Anatolia, began the foundation of the world's largest milk-meat integrated building on Sunday (May 29).
Panagro, a subsidiary of Konya Åžeker, is investing a total of TRY203 million (US$126.69 million) for the facility to be established in the Meram district of Konya. The plant, which is slated to be completed during the first half of next year, will provide employment for 2,000 people.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Recep Konuk, board chairman of Anadolu Birlik Holding, which owns Konya Åžeker with the cooperatives, said the stock and milk that will be processed in the facility would be provided by producers. The facility will be the world's largest meat-milk integrated plant that produces in the same campus, Konuk said.
