South Korea confirms new case of African swine fever

South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has confirmed a new case of African swine fever (ASF) at the northeastern county of Hongcheon, on a farm with 1,500 livestock, Reuters reported.

The ministry said all swine on the farm have been culled to prevent the spread of the disease, and an investigation is underway to check other swine farms in the region.

The authorities announced a standstill order on all swine farms and other livestock related facilities until May 30.

This is the first case of ASF in South Korea since the disease was last detected on a swine farm over seven months ago.
