Vietnam poultry group refutes fake news of artificial chicken egg production
The Vietnam Poultry Association has dismissed false rumours about the production of artificial chicken eggs in Vietnam and has petitioned relevant authorities to strictly penalise those spreading such misinformation.
A representative of the association confirmed that the organisation had submitted a document to pertinent ministries and agencies, urging action against these unfounded rumours.
The document emphasises that certain social media platforms have spread false information regarding the production of artificial chicken eggs in Vietnam, leading to consumer concerns and negatively impacting the poultry egg industry.
There is no scientific evidence supporting the existence of artificial eggs that mimic the characteristics of natural chicken eggs, the group said.
A representative from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine in Tay Ninh Province, southern Vietnam also highlighted that these unfounded rumours have severely impacted the poultry farming industry.
The department has urged relevant agencies to investigate the sources and enforce strict penalties on those who spread it.
Le Van Quyet, deputy chairman of the Southeast Poultry Association, noted that the production cost of industrial chicken eggs at farms currently ranges from VND1,100 (US$0.04) to VND1,400 (US$0.05) apiece.
He emphasised that manufacturing artificial eggs, if possible, would likely incur higher costs than real eggs, rendering such endeavours economically unviable.
Quyet added that the dissemination of baseless rumours, such as the current artificial egg claims, has been occurring frequently, significantly affecting the domestic poultry industry.
Aside from addressing this disinformation, industry players are also urged to strengthen the control of egg quality throughout the production and consumption chain.
