Iraq secures strategic wheat reserves for six months
Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairy, Iraq's Minister of Commerce, said that the country's strategic wheat reserves are deemed sufficient to meet its needs for the next six months, Alarabiya News reported.
The minister said that Iraq aims to secure reserves to cover a full 12-month period by the end of the current procurement year, which began in mid-April.
Iraq's state grain buyer revealed on Tuesday that it has successfully procured over one million tons of local wheat. This significant quantity was sourced directly from farmers in 13 provinces across Iraq, as reported by the state TV channel, Al Iraqiya.
Recently, Egypt's Supply Minister Ali Moselhy said that Egypt's strategic reserves of wheat are sufficient for five months of consumption.
