China reports H5N8 bird flu outbreak in Tibet
China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has confirmed an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu among wild birds in Nagqu City, southwest of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The ministry said 268 birds have been infected with the virus and killed. The virus was detected in two areas of Nagqu, which included a national wetland park.
Authorities have sterilised the area and safely disposed of the dead birds.
