Another ASF-infected pig carcass washes ashore in Taiwan

Another pig carcass was found on the shore of Taiwan, and was tested positive for African swine fever (ASF).

The virus discovered in the carcass, which was found at Kinmen Country, had a gene fragment sequence matching the ASF virus strain from mainland China.

As Kinmen County is very close to China's Fujian Province and Xiamen City in the Chinese mainland, and is close to the Jiulong River and other outlets to the sea, dead pigs have been occasionally found floating along the coast of Kinmen County.

The Council of Agriculture recently announced that the export of pigs and their products from Kinmen County to Taiwan and other outlying islands will be suspended for at least one week.
