In three days, the 7th World Fisheries Congress will open in Busan, South Korea. It will feature sessions on a broad range of topics including fisheries and fish biology, aquaculture, biotechnology, post-harvest science and technology, and biodiversity conservation and sustainable fisheries management.

7th World Fisheries Congress

Held every four years since 1992, the World Fisheries Congress (seventh edition) in Busan will feature sessions tackling a broad range of topics that appeal to a global audience, such as fisheries and fish biology, aquaculture, biotechnology, post-harvest science and technology, and biodiversity conservation and sustainable fisheries management.

 

The congress has for its theme "Challenge to Sustainable Fisheries and Safe Seafoods". Venue is the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center.

 

The congress is organised by the Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science, Busan Metropolitan City and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and hosted by the World Council of Fisheries Societies.

Aquaculture UK 2016

Middle East & Central Asia Aquaculture 2016

June 2 – 4, 2016

The Middle East & Central Asia Aquaculture 2016 (MECAA16) will be held in conjunction with Future Fish Eurasia at the Izmir Expo Center in Izmir, Turkey, on June 2 – 4. MECAA saw its first edition in Tehran, Iran, last year. It brings together aquaculture industry experts and academics from the Middle East to showcase the latest products and offer industry professionals a state-of-the-art platform to interact.

 

The MECAA16 programme includes specific topical industry sessions, technical sessions, facilitated workshops and panel discussions. It will provide a unique networking platform to industry professionals and aquaculture academics.

17th International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding

The symposium is an international conference of fish nutritionists from academia, government and industry. It is held every two years and draws about 500 participants. There will be nine half-day sessions encompassing current important topics in fish nutrition and feeding by leading scholars, experts and researchers.

Fish Breeders' Round Table 2016

Fish Breeders' Round Table is a meeting for global aquaculture breeding industry and research organisations. The program is set up to allow for plenty of discussion. All participating organisations must present results, but no abstracts are required.

 

It will be held in Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromsø, Norway.

 

Sessions will deal with genomics, feed efficiency, fish welfare and health, and free communication.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit to Nofima's Centre for Marine Aquaculture on June 14, as well experience the midnight sun on a hiking tour to Sommerøya ca, one hour from Tromsø, on the evening June 13.

2nd Global Summit on Aquaculture & Fisheries

The 2nd Global Summit on Aquaculture & Fisheries (Aquaculture Summit 2016) brings together an international mix of experts including aquaculture engineers, researchers and decision makers both from academia and the industry across the globe to exchange their knowledge, experiences and research innovations.

 

With the theme "Harvest Future Sustainable Aquaculture", the summit (which will be held at the Ramada Plaza in KL) will feature exhibition on new aqua feeds, among others.

 

Aquaculture is a major field in modern food supply. According to FAO, aquaculture is understood to mean the farming of aquatic organisms including fish, mollusks, crustaceans and aquatic plants. Farming implies some form of intervention in the rearing process to enhance production, such as regular stocking, feeding, and protection from predators. In the recently published global outlook report entitled Fish to 2030, the overwhelming majority of the projected increase in global fish production is expected to come from aquaculture as it has for the past several decades.

11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum

August 3 – 6, 2016

The Thai Department of Fisheries hosts the 11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum to be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) on Aug. 3-7. Concurrently held will be the Asean Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016.

 

The Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum provides an international platform for scientists from all over the world to discuss issues pertaining to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in the Asia-Pacific region. The forum also welcomes traders, producers and researchers from around the world.

 

With the theme "Seafood for the World & Asian Food Security for the World", the forum will be a mixture of keynote speeches, participant presentations, and posters and plenary discussions. Invited speakers from around the world will share their experiences and lessons-learned in fisheries and aquaculture. Participants from all over Asia and elsewhere will showcase recent advances in fisheries and aquaculture research and development in Asia.

 

The forum programme will run for three and a half days (Aug. 3-6) with a welcome reception on Aug. 4. The programme will include thematic plenary session with distinguished speakers from the fisheries and aquaculture and gender community and beyond; thematic concurrent sessions selected from individual abstracts; and poster presentations and competition.

 

The Forum Marketplace will provide a networking hub where participants can rent a stall or table to display publications, make known their organisation, promote specific projects, exchange proposals and generally make contacts. The exposition area is 7,750 square meters with 450 booths (3x3 meters).

 

More than 10,000 visitors are expected, and targeted exhibitors are from international fish producers, traders, processors, and equipment suppliers, as well as food service and catering operators.

 

The last plenary and closing ceremony will be on Aug. 6.

Asean Fisheries & Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016

The Thai Department of Fisheries (DOF) will host this year'sAsean Fisheries & Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016 and the 11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum and Exhibition on Aug. 4-6 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC).

 

A concurrent international scientific conference will be organised by DOF, the Asian Fisheries Society, Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Centre (SEAFDEC), Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific, also at BITEC on Aug. 3-6, featuring speakers from around the world, who will share their experiences and lessons learned in fisheries and aquaculture. About 1,000 participants are expected to attend the conference.

Aqua Fisheries Cambodia Expo 2016

August 8 – 9, 2016

Aqua Fisheries is the only international trade show for aquaculture and fisheries in Cambodia. It will be held for two days at Phnom Penh Hotel along Preah Monivong Blvd.

 

Among the items on exhibit are seafood products, fisheries equipment, marine biotechnology materials including aquafeed, and fishing articles. Exhibitors will also be treated to free tours of fish farms and processing plants.

 

Cambodia is home to some of the world's most intensive freshwater fisheries. The 2.6 million tonnes of fish caught annually in the Mekong basin represent seven times more than the catch of North American inland fisheries and more than 10 times the entire fish catch in Australia. The 18th Japan International Seafood and Technology Expo

August 17 –19, 2016

The upcoming 18th Japan International Seafood Show will be held on Aug. 17-19 at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center, bringing together about 800 seafood and fisheries-related companies from all over the world. Some 35,000 domestic and international visitors are expected. There will be around 1,300 booths.

 

Concurrently held will be the World Aquaculture Expo 2016, Sushi Expo 2016 and Freshness Keeping and Distribution Technology Expo 2016. 11th Int'l Conference on Recirculating Aquaculture & 2016 Aquaculture Innovation Workshop

The Freshwater Institute is partnering with the 11th annual International Conference on Recirculating Aquaculture (ICRA) to offer two concurrent events. The ICRA offers a wider scope of aquaculture-related topics, including research, enterprise and discovery, and unique opportunities for discussion. The Aquaculture Innovation Workshop (AIW) focuses on the technical, biological and economic performance of land-based recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) for production of market-sized fish.
