Global markets
FOB prices of Peruvian CNF fishmeal remained at US$1,700/tonnes.
Preliminary study showed that the fish population in the Peruvian seas were smaller than usual.
Market analysis
Demand for fishmeal slowed as most feed millers have stocked sufficient inventories prior to the May Day holidays. Moreover, stormy weather in the southern regions hampered the production of aquaculture, prompting aqua feed producers to make procurements more prudently.
Price quotes for prime-grade products were firmer in the range of RMB12,000-12,300/tonne.
Market forecast
Demand for fishmeal is poised to stay firm as aquaculture production continues to expand, despite disruptions in some regions with adverse climates. Fishmeal prices are therefore seen stable to higher amid with demand buoyant and import costs firm.
