JBS gives pay raises, protective equipment to Green Bay plant workers
JBS' Green Bay employees will earn US$4 an hour more and get more protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the meatpacking plant's union.
The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, which represents employees at JBS, 1330 Lime Kiln Road, announced Sunday that 1,000 workers will get an increase of US$4 per hour at the meatpacking plant, in addition to previously announced US$600 bonuses, starting Monday through May 30.
Workers also will have access to masks, gloves and face shields to help protect them essential work, the union said.
The company will install glass shields in areas of the plant where workers are not able to stand the required six feet away from others. The union said JBS also will offer more break room and cafeteria spaces for employees.
