Vietnam and Washington, US, sign MoU to push agricultural development and trade

The director of the State Department of Agriculture of Washington, the United States, Derek Sandison, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vietnam's Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Hoang Trung, on April 8 in Vietnam, marking an agreement between both parties to work together to strengthen agricultural development and the promotion of agricultural trade.

The signing of the MoU was the start of a trade mission in which Sandison was part of the dozens of delegates visiting Vietnam. The delegation was focused on expanding business connections, promoting Washington's food agricultural products and learning more about opportunities in the Vietnamese market. Delegates represented various product segments including wheat and wheat flour, apples, wine, cherries and hay.

Last year, Vietnam was Washington state's fifth largest export market when including agricultural products such as apples, wheat and dairy.
