Events in the next 3 months
In 10 days, the three-day course on aquaculture extrusion technology starts in As, Norway. This course covers the principles of extrusion, the design of extrusion processes for aquatic feeds, as well as how the formulation interacts with the extrusion process. Principles learned will be demonstrated using the extruder in the Centre for Feed Technology pilot plant located at As, Norway.
We've picked nine other events slated within the next three months, including the 10th Aquafeed Horizons Europe, which will be held Cologne, Germany, on June 14, 2017. The international conference is part of the new FVG Select grain and feed industries networking event being organised by Victam International.
Aquaculture Extrusion Technology short course
April 24 – 26, 2017
This three-day course covers the principles of extrusion, the design of extrusion processes for aquatic feeds, as well as how the formulation interacts with the extrusion process. Principles learned will be demonstrated using the extruder in the Centre for Feed Technology pilot plant located at As, Norway.
The programme provides a good background in general extrusion technology, but is specifically directed at aquafeed extrusion. The course is relevant to both single and twin screw extrusion technology. The course will cover topics from the basics of extruders and their configuration, through what is happening chemically and physically inside the extruder barrel, to an understanding of extruder dies and extruder instability.
Registration for the course closes on April 12, 2017.

Food & Feed Drying Technology short course
April 27 – 28, 2017
Drying is an essential operation in aquafeed production, and it is one of the most energy-intensive process operations. Yet it t it is often poorly understood and inefficient. This short course in drying technology combines the practical perspective of experienced industry professionals with the in-depth technical knowledge of drying processes. This course is about understanding drying technology, and how to use that understanding to improve current processes, or design/select new systems that are both effective and efficient.

6th Global Summit on Aquaculture & Fisheries
May 25 – 26, 2017
Aquaculture, or aquafarming, refers to the farming of fish, crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic plants, algae, and other aquatic organisms involving freshwater and saltwater cultivation under controlled conditions. Observing and understanding the dynamics of the oceans as well as managing, harvesting and culturing its resources in sustainable ways requires knowledge and smart technological solutions. Young researchers and scholars will share their valuable experiences, which will focus on the conference theme "To Create and Disseminate the Knowledge of Aquatic Resources".
The summit will include oral and poster presentations and exhibitions.
