JBS' US subsidiary recalls ground beef due to plastic traces

A US division of meat processor JBS is recalling more than 43,000 pounds of ground beef following reports that the meats may contain pieces of plastic, Fortune reported.

JBS Plainwell issued the alert in conjunction with the USDA this week. The affected products were produced on March 20. According to authorities, they could have been delivered only to stores in the US states of Michigan and Wisconsin.

Officials also feared that many consumers may have bought the affected products and are now advising them to check the purchased meats.

JBS Plainwell's recall is the latest of such a incident for a JBS plant, which faced several problems over the past year. Last October, the company's Tolleson, AZ factory recalled 6.5 million pounds of ground beef, and was then forced to recall another 5.1 million pounds in December.
