Turkey subsidises domestic milk production
The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will provide subsidies to producers of milk powder in a bid to prevent the rapid fall of milk prices across the country.
The locally produced milk powder will be sold at price levels generally implemented in international markets.
A law on providing subsidies to producers of milk powder in Turkey has been passed on Tuesday (Apr 6) and has already gone into effect.
The Ministry has allocated a subsidy of LRY1.2 billion (US$796.5 million) to aid farmers in the country in 2010.
