The UK now exports sheep meat to over 100 markets worldwide, more than 90 for beef and around 90 for pig meat, according to a video highlighting the country's global reach of red meat exports.
Produced by the AHDB Beef & Lamb TV, the video illustrates how different consumer demands in various export markets around the world help add value to the carcase.
The UK exports both premium products and fifth-quarter products, which have little or no domestic demand.
Peter Hardwick, head of exports of the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board, said: "Red meat exports play a major role in fully utilising the carcase and adding value throughout the supply chain, which is highlighted in our film".
He said UK beef is seen as a premium product around the world and "has enabled us to open strong trade links in the foodservice sector in places like Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau".
"There are also major opportunities for fifth-quarter products. These include the export of pork fifth quarter to China and sheep fifth quarter to South Africa and the Ivory Coast. It is therefore essential that we continue to compete in what is a volatile global market, yet one which also presents a wealth of opportunity for our industry", Hardwick added.
The fifth quarter, or offal, include the giblets in poultry and the head, tail, hide, horns, hoofs, fat, tallow, tongue, heart, and liver in cattle and sheep.
