Ukraine to allow meat and dairy imports from Belarus

Imports of meat and dairy products from Belarus will resumed after Ukrainian experts carry out necessary checks, according to Ukrainian Premier, Mykola Azarov, during a meeting with Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister, Vladimir Semashko.

"It's good that you understand that we don't have any claims to you or wish to cause damage to you. There are aspects connected with quality control of products imported to Ukraine. Experts should check them… and suggest to us reasonable solutions," the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers cited Azarov as saying on Thursday.

Semashko, in turn, said that there are no fundamental disputes in relations between Ukraine and Belarus.

As reported, the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine suspended from March 1, 2012 imports to Ukraine of milk and dairy products from Belarus, as well as animals susceptible to African swine fever, and products made from them.

In March experts from the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine checked Belarus control system for meat and dairy products.
