Global markets
FOB prices of Peruvian prime-grade fishmeal remained stable at US$1,530/tonne.
Pre-sales of fishmeal increased steadily to 250,000 tonnes.
Meanwhile, stormy climates in Peru delayed export shipments of fishmeal lately.
Market analysis
Demand for fishmeal was stable in China as the feed industry stepped up production of aqua feed in preparation for the expansion of aqua farming in the coming months. As shipments of Peruvian fishmeal were delayed, traders lifted prices while inventories decreased.
Price quotes for prime-grade products were firm in the range of RMB11,400-11,600/tonne.
Market forecast
Fishmeal market will stay firm as the production of aqua feed continues to rise. Unless shipments are further disrupted, fishmeal price hikes will be gradual as feed producers are more cautious than usual due to China's uncertain economic outlook.
