Vitamin C prices surged as demand increased tremendously while news spread that a high dose vitamin C may be beneficial in treating and prevention of the Wuhan coronavirus infection. While producers regulated output amid record low prices, supplies were insufficient to meet the sudden jump in demand.
Prices of vitamin C may rise further in the near term due to speculative demand. However, with the capacity of the vitamin C industry high, supplies will be ample unless the product is proven to be an effective cure for Wuhan virus.
