Ukraine forbids entry of Belarusian meat, dairy

Ukraine has imposed a temporal ban on cattle and meat imports from Belarus, due to concerns of African swine fever, according to Ukrainian authorities.

As a member of the Customs Union, Belarus does not exercise customs and veterinary control on the border with Russia, which has seen a few outbreaks of African swine fever over the past five years, which is a potential threat to Ukraine s biological security, Ukrainian veterinary authorities said.

Furthermore, Ukraine has suspended dairy imports from Belarus following numerous violations of Ukraine's veterinary and sanitary requirements for permitted maximum residue levels of veterinary medications by Belarusian dairy producers.
