20,000 tonnes of frozen pork to be auctioned from China's state reserves
The China Merchandise Reserve Management Centre said an additional 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork will be auctioned on March 27, 2020, reported Reuters.
A total of 230,000 tonnes of frozen pork have been released from state reserves since the beginning of the year, with 140,000 tonnes released back in December 2019.
The centre has been periodically releasing frozen pork from state reserves in a bid to supplement the dwindling supplies of the meat caused by an African swine fever outbreak and transport restrictions imposed due to COVID-19.
