Market analysis
Pork carcass prices slid 1% to RMB21.28/kg, as slaughterhouses withheld buying while pork demand remained sluggish. With supplies of hog stable, prices dipped 2.4% to levels unseen since mid-2015.
Market forecast
Pork demand should recover gradually with Qingming Festival approaching. Price falls are expected to slow as slaughterhouses restock inventories. However, the cautious mood of consumers and slaughterhouses will limit the upward scope of the hog market.
