For the first time, Taiwan is making a pitch on the big stage for its biotech and animal health companies by taking part in VIV Asia 2015, which opens March 11 at the Bitec exhibition centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
A state-funded group called the Agricultural Technology Research Institute (ATRI) has rented a booth at the trade show on behalf of 10 Taiwanese companies seeking wider export opportunities.
Dr. Lily Wei-Lien Weng, who heads ATRI's Bangkok delegation, told eFeedLink that their group represents five feed additive and two animal vaccine manufacturers, among other companies. Three other companies dealing on poultry breeds and poultry wastes disposal are taking part in the exhibition through ATRI.
Also being promoted at the Taiwanese booth are three other companies dealing on poultry breeds and poultry wastes disposal.
The ten companies which, according to Dr. Lily, represent about 70% of Taiwan's animal health products output, are: Li-Yuan Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology Corp.; AFFS Agrotech Corp., Ltd; Merit Biotech, Inc.; Bioguard Corporation; Anibio Co., Ltd.; Bion Tech, Inc.; Tagkey Science Co., Ltd.; Kai Shing Food Corp.; and, China Chemical and pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony has been scheduled for the Taiwan booth (G020-G030, Hall 106, Bitec) at 1:30 p.m. on the opening day (March 11) of the three-day exhibition, the region's biggest trade event for the feed-to-meat industries.
Dr. Lily said ATRI, which gets its funding from the government with contributions from private companies, was established in January last year to do researches and promote Taiwanese technology overseas.
She said VIV Asia 2015 would be the biggest trade show that they would be participating in so far. Last year, they attended VIV China and another smaller trade event in Japan.
