India's poultry exports to Kuwait banned again
India's poultry exports to Kuwait is banned by the latter once more following an avian influenza outbreak in the north-eastern state of Tripura, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (Apeda) announced.
The latest incident – which occurred in mid-January - has been confirmed by the Department of Animal Husbandry, under the Ministry of Agriculture.
While Kuwait is considered a minor importer of India's poultry, the suspension could have adverse impact on the Indian poultry industry already dealing with high feed costs and volatile realisations, The Hindu Business Line reported.
Kuwait last lifted the ban on Indian poultry imports in October 2015 after India was declared free from avian influenza by the World Organisation for Animal Health.
